Raiders of the Vistula – Pt. 5

Seven runs over and cuts the ropes securing the launch to the Raedwulf as the Leutnant and his remaining soldiers board the smaller boat, returning fire as they go.  As the launch separates from the larger riverboat, you can hear Reisman yelling at the pilot to get the boat underway.  Scope ducks back down into the hold long enough to find Lucky peeking his head out of the hold.  The two converse quickly On the Gdansk, the partisans have managed to separate their launch as well.  The small boat lunges forward briefly before it is hit by a shell from a Pzkw III on the shore.  The boat leaps up out of the water as it explodes in a cloud of fire, smoke and shrapnel.  Within seconds the Gdansk is hit twice by more shells.  The explosion is massive, flattening everyone on the deck of the Raedwulf as the shockwave flies across the surface of the river. As bits of boat and cargo rain down on everyone, a surge wave strikes the Raedwulf, pushing the boat faster towards the small gap under the bridge. Riesman shouts commands at his crew as the boat races through the gap, sharp rubble and steel coming perilously close to the hull of the riverboat.  Before you realize it the Raedwulf is on the southern side of the bridge, the German checkpoint behind them.  The crew lets out a collective sigh of relief and sets about examining the boat to assess the battle damage. As everyone comes out of their hiding spot in the smuggler's hold.  Thor lights up his pipe and pulls out his map.  "Gentlemen, next stop Mewe.  We will be there tonight.  I will want at least a few of you to come ashore with me when we drop off the "supplies."  That way you will have some additional contacts in the country if you need them."
